Best holistic care for children with cancer program

To better child patients’ quality of life and to promote cooperation among volunteer network, public health care centers and communities, Pfizer Thailand Foundation supported to Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University to run “Best Holistic Care for Children with Cancer Program”. Led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surapon Wiangnon – head of program, “7th Home Hug Home Jai” (Harmony of Love) was held at the faculty in order to encourage, share happiness with, and relieve worries of child patients and their parents.
Best Holistic Care for Children with Cancer was a part of Global Health Partnership – Thailand Cancer Control. From 2008 to 2011 Pfizer Thailand Foundation and Pfizer Foundation (New York) in cooperation with American Cancer Society (ACS) provided financial support, amounting to THB 2,070,000, and consultation towards the program.

Global Health Partnership – Thailand Cancer Control was established in order to fortify non-profit organizations concerning cancer control in Thailand. Funded by Pfizer Thailand Foundation, the project consulted American Cancer Society (ACS) in management and training procedures so that the organizations achieved their goals and requirements of cancer patients and community members. This 3-year continued project started from September 2009 until 2011 with participation of 5 independent organizations - 1) Heart to Heart Foundation, 2) Queen Sirikit Center, Chulalongkorn Hospital, 3) Chulabhorn Research Institute, 4) Thai Society of Clinical Oncology (TSCO) and 5) Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University
